We're excited to introduce SeascanPro, a new iOS app built for anyone who uses Seafile for file storage. It turns your iPhone into a document scanner that syncs directly to your Seafile server — no cloud middlemen, no accounts, no data collection.
Why SeascanPro?
If you're running a Seafile server, you already care about owning your data. But getting documents into Seafile usually means scanning on a computer or using a generic scanner app that routes files through someone else's cloud. We wanted a scanner that speaks Seafile natively:
- Scan directly to your Seafile libraries
- Browse and create folders on your server from the app
- Queue uploads when offline and sync automatically later
- Keep everything between your device and your server — nothing else
Key Features
Precision Scanning
SeascanPro uses VisionKit for automatic edge detection, delivering clean and crisp scans every time. Capture multi-page documents in a single session and export as PDF or JPG.
OCR Text Extraction
Every scan gets processed with Apple's Vision framework to create searchable PDFs with invisible text layers. Find any document later by searching its content — not just its filename.
Seafile Sync
This is the core of the app. Connect to your Seafile server, browse your libraries, pick a destination folder (or create a new one), and uploads happen automatically. Background URLSession keeps syncing even when the app isn't in the foreground.
Offline First
No internet? No problem. Scan documents anywhere and they queue up automatically. When you're back online, SeascanPro syncs everything in the background.
Your Library
Browse your scans with thumbnails, format badges, and sync status indicators. Search by title or content, and share via any iOS app.

Privacy by Design
SeascanPro collects zero data. No analytics, no tracking SDKs, no ad networks, no account required. Documents stay on your device until you choose to sync them to your server. We never see your files, your credentials, or anything about how you use the app.

Requires iOS 16.0 or later and an iPhone with a camera. A Seafile server is needed for cloud sync but is optional — the app works fully offline as a standalone scanner.
